Festival Ride
Culloden
Ride To Culloden’s Highland Games & Festival: Saturday, May 22, 8 am. In 1842, Scotchman, Kirkpatrick McMillan, built the first pedal bicycle. He was called a “Devil on Wheels” and his invention would be known as a velocipede. Join Georgia Bikes! and fellow cyclists for a fun day of cycling and enjoying the Scottish Highland Games and Festival in Culloden. These Games are as close to the real “McCoy” as one would experience in the rural villages of Scotland. The ride $20 fee ($25 after 5/14) includes admission to the Festival and a Cycling Safety VEST. Registration will start at 8 am. We will meet in the little village of Johnstonville and at 8:30 AM ride the 17 miles to Culloden at a leisurely pace so that we can all arrive at the festival around the same time. Wear or bring casual clothing and a bicycle lock. The ride will be SAGed. Enjoy the festival and all it’s activities. There will be lots of food, gifts, souvenirs, etc. that can be purchased. At 3 pm we will all ride back to Johnstonville. You can return earlier or stay later if you wish. Rid and Festival are on rain or shine. Directions: From Atlanta go about 40 miles South on I-75 to Exit 193. From Macon go about 25 miles North on I-75 to Exit 193. Go West on Johnstonville Rd. for about 5 miles. We will meet at the Johnstonville Volunteer Fire Department. Johnstonville is East of Barnesville and North West of the City of Forsyth. www.georgiabikes.org
